II Corthinthians 7:9 I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance: for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, in order that you might not suffer loss in anything through us.
Being able to get in touch with your feelings has great value. To often people assume, if you are down , you need to get up, right now.
This is not always so. If the Holy Spirit is trying to work a repentance without regret. However, to often we have seen the sorrow of the world and know that it produces death.
II Corinthians 7:10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation: but the sorrow of the world produces death.
What then do I say to someone who is down, so as not to interfere with the work of the Holy Spirit ? I praise God for His mercy and grace ! I say, "He is faithful to forgive those who confess their sins to Him." I exhort and encourage them to receive the grace of God that is for our sins . A free gift. The repentance not be done to earn the gift. The repentance be done as a result of receiving the gift.
